2024 HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Due May 10, 2024

Scholarships of $1000.00 and book awards of $500.00 will be given to graduating high school seniors with demonstrated academic ability and community service.  More than one scholarship will be given. Visit the Scholarships page for a list of the scholarships to be given.  Each scholarship will be given directly to the student. Scholarships will be granted based on the criteria listed below. Only one application is required for consideration of all scholarships.

Criteria: A High School senior graduating this current year:

  1. Active community service
  2. Acceptance to an institution of higher learning.
  3. With a cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or above (4.0 scale)
  4. The student must live in the City of Detroit Michigan.

Student selection will be based on:

  1. Academic ability
  2. Active community involvement
  3. Financial need
  4. One recommendation from teachers, ministers, community leaders, or counselors
  5. Video Essay: Pick a quote that describes a lot about you, and explain why you connect with it. (1-2 Mins) MP4 or MOV.

Please type or computer generate all information.  Applications that are incomplete or received after May 10, 2024 will not be considered for funding. Decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final. Your application was not successful if you have not heard from USI by June 30, 2024.


Be sure your application includes:

  1. You only need to fill out one application to be considered for all applicable scholarships.
  2. Applicant’s full name and contact info must be on the application
  3. Official transcript. 
  4. One recommendation letter.
  5. Video Essay Mp4 or MOV
  6. SAT and/or ACT test scores are optional
